Angwin Country Estate
Angwin, CATucked away in Angwin’s private countryside, this estate began as a simple ranch house with eight-foot ceilings and minimal connection to the outdoors. Working with San Francisco-based Lundberg Design, we transformed it into a light-filled home that opens to the surrounding landscape.

We gutted the interior and raised the roof, installing cathedral ceilings and a glazed-end façade.
We recessed the living area to create a more intimate space, while steel trusses and expansive windows add visual depth and detail. A Finnish soapstone stove anchors the center of the home and provides heat.

Materials reflect the home’s rural setting: recycled rustic flooring, organic insulation, corrugated metal roofing salvaged from an old barn, and non-toxic zero-VOC paint throughout. We also built a large garden shed which doubles as a studio space attached to a large chicken coop, extending the property’s functionality.
Together with Lundberg Design, we took a dark box and transformed it into a bright, open space that connects to the surrounding landscape. The result is a country estate with rustic character and modern livability.
